07 Jan Welcome To Loose, Joana Serrat!
What better way to kick off the new year than by announcing a new signing, so welcome to Loose, Joana Serrat!
Hailing from Vic near Barcelona, Joana is making Loose history in being the first ever Spanish artist to join Team Loose. Her last album Dear Great Canyon, which came out in 2014 on Primavera’s El Segell label, gained support from Lauren Laverne & Gideon Coe on BBC 6 Music and an NME review of the album said: “The spectre of Joanna Newsom hangs heavy on Joana’s breathy vocal, while tracks such as The Blizzard evoke the sweeping alt country of Lambchop. Gorgeous.“
We can’t wait to start sharing Joana’s new music. Whilst we can’t give away too much just yet, we can tell you that the new album does feature some familiar names… more on which very soon.
In the meantime, we’ve invited Joana over to London to join us for our takeover of The Windmill, Brixton on Saturday 30th January, when we’ll be celebrating Independent Venue Week along with Danny & The Champions Of The World, Jeb Loy Nichols and Simon Stanley Ward. Tickets available here.
Check out this video of Joana playing the beautiful unreleased track, The Ballad of Lonesome Me.
