American Songwriter Premieres Video For New Frankie Lee Single "In The Blue"

American Songwriter has premiered the video for Frankie Lee's new single In The Blue. "In The Blue finds the sweet spot between modern, soulful folk and old-school Western balladry", they write, "with Lee’s gentle vocal lending an emotional heft to the track’s understated, piano-forward arrangement. Lyrically, the track trades in unvarnished vulnerability ("I’m going straight out of my mind") and cerebral musings ("What is today without tonight?").Frankie tells us, "The song dramatizes the confusion felt by the narrator as he watches the important things in life slip away," Lee says. "Realizing he cannot hold on to even one grain of sand, he is led to his final question: whether all things are just a dream."The video for In The Blue follows on from that of previous single Downtown Lights in using archival footage of Frankie Lee’s hometown of Stillwater, Minnesota from which the forthcoming album takes its name. The footage was taken from the Washington County Historical Society’s John Runk collection by videographer Paul Creager.The track is available now to stream or download. Stillwater is out 24 May 2019.
