Danny & The Champs To Release Live Album

Tuesday, 17th June 2014

"In a way it's the ultimate Champs album..." says Danny and we have to agree. From 2008's These Days, to a selection of favourites from last year's studio album Stay True, via the likes of Henry The Van and Colonel & The King - it's almost like a greatest hits of Danny & The Champions. However, this hits package captures what the studio recordings can't quite convey - the raw passion and energy of a Champs live show.

"This is what we sound like right nowand I'm thrilled we were able to capture that."- Danny George Wilson

Recorded live at a hugely sweaty sold out show at Jazz Cafe, Camden on the 6th March this year, featuring co-conspirators Trevor Moss & Hannah-Lou, you can either take this as a welcome reminder of a shit-hot show, or a harsh lesson on how you should never pass up an opportunity to catch these guys live.

“there’s always been a sense of a tasteful restraint to the studio albums but unleashed on stage with their raspy vocals and heartland rock and soul, they’re like a power station on steroids.”

“This is a proper old school live album, makes you want to go to a gig”

ROBERT ELMS, BBC LONDON

“songs like This Is Not a Love Song and and Stay True which come at you one after the other; are destined to make ‘new fans’ wonder why these kids aren’t topping the bill at Glastonbury with their magic formula and bittersweet songs.”
