Through the Pines - Uncle Tupelo's 20th Anniversary Special. Rob Hughes sat in for Guy Garvey last night (on the finest hour show) looking at the 20th anniversary of the release of Uncle Tupelo's debut LP No Depression, named after the old Carter Family song.The 2-hour show traces the roots of the music itself - back to Hank Williams, The Carter Family, the Louvin Brothers, the Stanley Brothers - as well as showcasing the bands who became the new flag bearers for the other side of Nashville: Uncle Tupelo, Whiskeytown/Ryan Adams, Son Volt, Wilco, Calexico, Willard Grant Conspiracy and more.
