The Handsome Family Premiere New Songs + Video
Monday, 6th May 2013
If you missed hearing Marc Riley play 'Owls' on BBC 6 Music the other night, handy for you that American Songwriter are currently hosting a stream of the new Handsome Family track right here. Rennie shares with them the inspiration behind the song :-"While reading Skymall on a plane some years back, I noticed that among the dog beds and foot massagers, they were also selling large statues of ancient Egyptian pharaohs. I wondered what kind of house those statues would look good in. Almost immediately, it came to me: a house full of owls."Hiding over here at WXRT, you'll find a free download of one of our favourite tracks from the album - 'Caterpillars', so go ahead and take advantage of that one.Meanwhile, NPR have taken things up to the audio visual level, by premiering The Handsome Family's new video for 'Woodpecker' - a track which has also had it's fair share of 6 Music play, courtesy of Gideon Coe. Visit NPR to discover the story behind the song and the inspiration behind the video.
In addition to all this excitement, both Uncut and Mojo have been saying some rather nice things about new album, 'Wilderness', with both magazines awarding it a healthy ★★★★. Click on the cuttings to take a look, then feel compelled to skip across pre-order Wilderness here, through the Loose shop.
